A native of Connecticut and cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College, Betsy began her career in the New York fashion industry. Relocated to Los Angeles, she launched her eponymous design firm in 1996. Betsy lives in the Hancock Park with her husband Mark Stern, daughter Carson, son Will, and two chihuahuas, Lola and Nina Garcia.
Combining his love of modern design with a taste for the traditional, Max Humphrey brings innovation and a splash of the unorthodox to extraordinary interiors.
Mentored by Betsy Burnham, Max quickly established himself as a savvy designer with a keen eye for polished spaces and his work has been recognized by leading press outlets including features in The New York Times, House Beautiful, The Los Angeles Times and Instyle. In 2013, he was labeled one of Curbed.com’s National Young Guns of Interior Design & Architecture and Max’s home was featured in Lonny Magazine that same year.
A musician and graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Max toured the US and England playing bass in a punk rock band. What began as a design assistant position at Burnham Design ultimately led to Max’s promotion to Partner in 2013.
Saranne Thomas, a Brentwood girl by way of Northern California and Laguna Niguel, is a design assistant at Burnham Design. Saranne's got a decidedly Californian/Bohemian point of view and a natural flair for adding color and texture to any room. Saranne loves jewelry, the color turquoise and almost anything shiny.
Kathryn Bossack is an architectural design assistant at Burnham Design. A Midwest native turned California girl, Kathryn has a Masters Degree in architecture from the University of Detroit. Kathryn grew up near her alma mater, which is where she learned to appreciate the city’s ornate art deco/modernist design style.
Following her passion for creating vibrancy from all things old, Kathryn moved to Los Angeles in 2009 to pursue a career in architecture and interior design. It was in L.A. that she fell in love with California’s sun, music, fashion, and joie de vivre.
